Optimum Technologies, LLC (OpTech) has named Timothy E. Rumford as Vice President of Operations effective immediately.

Mr. Rumford will report to the company Principal Founders, Jeffrey Gick and John Hildebrand, and will work closely with them managing day-to-day operations as well as helping guide the company’s strategy and future growth.

Mr. Rumford recently retired from Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) where he served as the Director of the National Security Space (NSS) Space Vehicles Operating Unit at NGC’s Tactical Space Systems Division. His focus has been productizing

space vehicles to enable low cost, rapid and reliable access to space. He has managed the ESPAStar Space Vehicle Product Line since its inception in 2015, which has achieved this objective. He has over 30 years of Engineering, Program Management and Business Experience in large aerospace programs. Former assignments (including while Orbital Sciences): Program Director on the Stratolaunch Air Launch System, Program Manager on the NASA Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV), Launch Abort System (LAS) Program, Program Manager for the NASA Demonstration of Autonomous Rendezvous Technology (DART) spacecraft and Chief Engineer on the Pegasus Launch Vehicle Program. He holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in systems engineering and engineering management from George Washington University.
