On July 20, the Commission announced plans to grant a total EU funding of almost €1.2 billion supporting 61 collaborative defence research and development projects selected following the first ever calls for proposals under the European Defence Fund (EDF 2021).

Among the selected projects, EuroHAPS (High altitude platform systems demonstration) will provide airborne technology demonstrators to improve intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.

Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%) is pleased to announce that the company has been selected as coordinator of a European consortium whose aim is to develop several stratospheric demonstrators embarking different missions.

Thales Alenia Space thanks the European Commission as well as the French, German, Italian, Spanish, Hungarian and Czech Ministries of Defense for their trust.
