Cygnus Commercial Cargo Spacecraft Prepared For Launch
A team of engineers and technicians monitor progress as an overhead crane lowers the Cygnus spacecraft, built by Orbital ATK, toward its service module.
Processing occurs inside the Space Station Processing Facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The spacecraft then was mated to its service module, which includes the propulsion system and power-producing solar arrays. The Cygnus, which flies without a crew, is to launch atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket carrying equipment, supplies and research to the International Space Station.
