CubeCab won this years NewSpace Conference Business Plan Competition after competing in the unusual Lightning Pitch competition and walked away with the 1st place prize of $20,000.
This years NewSpace Business Plan Competition was formatted such that finalists selected before the conference would give a 4 minute speech followed by a 3 minute question and answer during the Business Plan Competition session yesterday, the first day of the conference. The “Shark Tank” judges then deliberated and announced the winners in the evening reception.

CubeCab based out of Mountain View, California pitched their business plan of offering turnkey CubeSat’s, 1U or 3U formats, with a turnaround time of just 1-2 months, “assuming your satellite meets the 1U or 3U CubeSat specifications, passes standard launch safety tests, and meets other regulatory requirements”.

The costs, which includes launch, a mere $100k for the 1U size CubeSat and $250k for the 3U size CubeSat.

The company plans on launching the CubeSat’s themselves to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Coming in second and claiming a prize of $7,500 was RockZip of Michigan City, Indiana who design and build HighBalloons to get your payload into space.

Taking 3rd place and collecting $2,500 was Elysium Space of San Francisco who are offering affordable memorial spaceflight services.
