2014 International Astronautical Congress Update – Friday, 19 September 2014
We’re ten days away from the official opening of the 2014 International Astronautical Congress being held in Toronto, Canada. However pre-congress events start in six days with the 13th Annual Space Generation Congress kicking things off.
Speaking of the Opening Ceremony, it will take place at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts on Monday, September 29 at 9:30 a.m. with the doors open at 8:30. IAF President Kiyoshi Higuchi and Canadian Minister of Industry James Moore will be on hand to welcome guests.
The entertainment will be provided by Canadian, and world-renowned Cirque du Soleil and Canadian Musical Artist Peter Katz. As well, a special video message by the Cirque’s founder Guy Laliberté who flew on the International Space Station as a civilian astronaut.

New Networking Events
– Canadian Space Society (CSS) and Space Societies Committee (SSC) Meet and Greet – 30 September – 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (FREE)
The CSS, an IAF and SSC member, is pleased to host this networking event for our Canadian friends and their associated international counterparts. The Space Societies Committee, which also represents Museums and Professional Associations, is comprised of many like-minded space organizations whose goal is to develop and grow relationships that help to further their respective space goals and the goals of the IAF.

New Media Events
– UrtheCast: UrtheCast is planning a short media event in our booth on Tuesday, September 30 at 4 pm. Just want to let you know as there might be a little more noise but hopefully, it will generate traffic to the entire area.
