XM Satellite Radio Tops 3.1 Million Subscribers Ahead of Year-End Goal

XM Satellite Radio, the nation’s leading provider of satellite radio, today announced that it recently surpassed 3.1 million subscribers, the company’s year-end goal for 2004.

“We are very pleased to announce that XM recently exceeded the 3.1- million-subscriber mark, which was our goal for the end of year,” said Hugh Panero, President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio. “Holiday shoppers bought XM radios in record numbers, reinforcing XM’s significant market leadership position in satellite radio.”

XM offered holiday gift buyers a variety of new, next-generation products, including the award-winning Delphi XM2Go MyFi, the first portable, hand-held satellite radio, and the Delphi XM SKYFi2, the first plug-and-play satellite radio with pause and replay features. XM recently announced an 11-year deal to broadcast games for every Major League Baseball team beginning in spring 2005. XM also announced a long-term agreement with Toyota Motor Sales, USA to provide satellite-delivered data services for Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicles. In addition, Toyota will offer factory-installed XM radios in Toyota and Lexus vehicles in 2006, and expand the number of models offering XM as a dealer-installed option in 2005.
