Palo Alto, CA: WayPaver Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting science and technology development in furtherance of lunar settlement, announced today the launch of the WayPaver Fellowship.

The program is designed to support entrepreneurs, scientists, and researchers working on breakthroughs in science and technology that have application to lunar settlement while also improving quality of life on Earth. Each WayPaver Fellow will receive an unrestricted grant of $100,000 to help advance their work, as well as access to WayPaver Foundation’s extensive network of advisors, exclusive event invitations, and ample opportunities to increase visibility of their work.

“Many people don’t realize how much of the technology necessary for lunar settlement also has application here on Earth,” said Nick Arnett, Founder & CEO of WayPaver Foundation. “Through the WayPaver Fellowship, we’re excited to help push lunar settlement forward while simultaneously improving quality of life for people around the globe.”

“Despite the fine work of various organizations promoting space generally and offplanet settlement specifically, there is still a severe lack of funding available to the innovators solving some of the most complex problems,” explained Guillermo Sohnlein, Chairman of WayPaver Foundation. “By launching the WayPaver Fellowship, we are helping to fill a critical gap in the lunar settlement ecosystem.”

Individuals interested in applying must be leading the project, startup, or research they are involved with to be eligible. For the 2017 Fellowship, WayPaver Foundation is specifically interested in individuals working on advancements in the fields of energy, biology and manufacturing; however, work outside of those fields will be considered.

Anyone is welcome to submit an application. The deadline to apply is October 28th, 2016. The first class of fellows will be announced in the first half of 2017.

Additional information and details on how to apply can be found online at www.waypaverfoundation.org/fellowship.
