Veteran NASA Physician, Keynote Speaker Announces Website to Inspire Ingenuity

Jim Logan, MD, speaker and coach challenges audiences to unconventional thinking.

Houston, TX – March 22, 2010 – Veteran NASA physician and public speaker, Dr. Jim Logan, recently launched the website www.drjimlogan.com , to inspire his audiences to explore recent discoveries about the universe and motivate viewers to think about optimal human performance, medical and scientific innovation, destiny of the human species and the philosophical questions they raise.

A recipient of NASA’s Distinguished Speaker award, Dr. Logan is a 19-year veteran of NASA. Board certified in Aerospace Medicine, he has served as Chief of Flight Medicine (personal physician to the astronauts and their families); Chief of Medical Operations; and Chief of Medical Informatics and Healthcare Systems. Dr. Logan is Mission Control certified and has supported 25 space shuttle missions as well as mission planning activities for extended duration human space operations beyond Earth orbit.

As Project Manager for the Space Station Medical Facility, Dr. Logan developed the initial design for a telemedicine-based, in-flight medical delivery system for long duration missions. He is a founding board member of the American Telemedicine Association.

Dr. Logan has been an enthusiastic student of space exploration since childhood. After completing a NASA sponsored Medical Residency Training Program, he was the first graduate to be hired by NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Dr. Logan is a former Provost for International Space University and a co-founder of Space Medicine Associates, a multidisciplinary space medicine and bioastronautics consulting organization dedicated to safely opening spaceflight to as many individuals as possible.
