The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) are pleased to announce that on 21 October 2019, the Honorable Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States is scheduled to deliver welcome remarks at the Opening Ceremony of the 70th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2019), to take place from 21 – 25 October in Washington, D.C., United States.

IAF and AIAA are honored that Vice President Pence will be participating in IAC 2019. As with any high-ranking government official speaking at an IAC, certain additional security measures and procedures will be put in place. Delegates, exhibitors, and media will be notified the week before the event of any specific instructions, security requirements, or schedule changes that may impact the Opening Ceremony. Our goal, as always, is to make access to IAC sessions as straightforward and convenient as possible while keeping in mind the safety and security of all attendees and speakers.
