Turbomachinery Chief Named to Senior Executive Service
Dr. Dhanireddy R. Reddy, chief, Turbomachinery and Propulsion Systems
Division at NASA’s Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, has been appointed to
the Senior Executive Service, the highest echelon of federal employment.

“Dr. Reddy’s outstanding technical expertise makes him a valued leader in
Glenn’s turbomachinery and propulsion endeavors,” said Glenn Center Director
Donald J. Campbell. “I am confident that he will help the Center maintain
and enhance its strong reputation in these areas.”

Reddy is responsible for providing enabling capabilities to the aerospace
community by leading research and developing technology in areas including
turbomachinery, combustion, propellants, icing, inlets, nozzles, propulsion
system simulation, engine systems and computational methods. He leads
research and development partnerships with internal and external
organizations to plan new initiatives and insure technical capabilities in
strategic areas consistent with the Center’s roles and mission. Reddy also
maintains Glenn technology leadership by interfacing with customers and
stakeholders to transfer technology.

Previously, Reddy served as chief of Glenn’s On-Board Propulsion Branch,
which devises and develops chemical and electric propulsion technologies for
use aboard spacecraft. Before coming to NASA Glenn in 1991, he worked for
Sverdrup Technology and Allison Engine Company.

Reddy was born in Yerragudi, Andhra Pradesh, India. He received a bachelor’s
degree in mechanical engineering from Sri Venkateswara (S.V.) University in
India and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Indian
Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. He earned a doctorate, also in
aerospace engineering, from the University of Cincinnati. He has written
over 30 technical papers on aerospace propulsion. He is the recipient of
several NASA Honor awards and he is also an Associate Fellow of the American
Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Reddy and his family live in Strongsville, Ohio.
