TRW Aeronautical Systems, Lucas Aerospace Appoints Dr. Graham Thornton as Vice President, Business Development

TRW Aeronautical Systems (Lucas Aerospace) has named Dr. Graham Thornton as Vice President of Business Development.

Thornton, 51, will join the company in his new role on January 1, 2000, with the primary responsibility of further developing the
company’s position in international markets. Thornton replaces David Bundred who will leave the company at the end of this
year to pursue other challenges and opportunities.

Thornton comes to TRW from Smiths Industries where most recently he was Group Director, Marketing & Business
Development for Smiths Industries Aerospace. Over the past 11 years, he has held several senior level positions at Smiths
Industries Aerospace including Group Director, Strategy & Business Development and Managing Director of Dowty &
Smiths Industries Controls Ltd. at Cheltenham (England). Prior to joining Smiths Industries, he was Group Director of Dowty
Defence & Air Systems Ltd. Earlier in Thornton’s 33-year career he ran his own company, Echotronics Ltd., and held key
management positions at a number of high-technology organizations.

Thornton earned a Ph.D. in Cryogenic Engineering, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a bachelor of science
(honors) in Physics, all from the University of Southampton (England). From 1975 to 1984, he lectured in Engineering Science
at Oxford University where he still lectures part time. Thornton is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
