Nyack, NY, July 6, 2009 – Honor the courage and prowess that lead to “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” by attending the Apollo 11 Anniversary Gala on Monday, July 20th at the Domain Hotel in Sunnyvale, California. This black tie event will conclude the NewSpace 2009 Conference with keynote speakers Peter Diamandis, Rick Tumlinson, and David Webb. The event will feature the decorated film, Moon Beat, the Space Frontier Foundation’s NewSpace Industry Awards, and announcement of the Heinlein NewSpace Business Plan Competition winner.

Countless millions watched as Apollo 11 touched down in the Sea of Tranquility. Suddenly the sky was no longer the limit. Bob Richards, CEO of Odyssey Moon, will present a tribute to the 40th anniversary of this monumental achievement and look toward future moon missions. The Apollo 11 Anniversary Gala is a chance for those inspired by our footprints on the moon to rekindle the ambition that launched the Apollo program and share their plans of returning to our celestial neighbor.

As part of the evening’s festivities, a special presentation of the documentary, Moon Beat, will recall the 1960’s space race leading up to the flight of Apollo 11 from the point of view of the news reporters who covered this momentous time. Events from President Kennedy’s igniting speech to Jack W. King’s (Voice of Apollo) exhilarating launch countdowns are recalled by correspondents including John Noble Wilford, New York Times, Al Neuharth, founder of USA Today, Reg Turnill, BBC Aerospace, Joe Morgenstern, The Wall Street Journal, and many others.

“Apollo 11 embodies the ‘can-do’ ‘find-a-way’ great Americanspirit of overcoming obstacles and achieving goals. In moving forward, we must look back to the success of Apollo 11 and Moon Beat seeks to retell this timeless tale to a new generation.” Kevin Stirling, Director/Producer of Moon Beat. Join us as we celebrate the “exciting and ambitious exploration of space, perhaps beyond the moon, perhaps to the very end of the solar system

itself” (President John F. Kennedy) and Register online for the Apollo 11 Anniversary Gala today! The conference will be held at NASA Ames from Saturday, July 18th to Monday, July 20th. Online registration for the NewSpace 2009 Conference will close July 16th. Registration will be available onsite at an increased rate.
