NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has selected Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT, Inc.) to provide mechanical, thermal, and related engineering services to the Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate (AETD), in support of space technology development, Earth and Space science missions, and NASA’s Exploration Program.

Today’s selection is the second time NASA awarded the MSES II/A contract to SGT. The contract was originally awarded to SGT in December 2006. Due to a protest filed by the incumbent company, NASA announced, on January 19, 2007, that it was rescinding the MSES II/A Contract award to SGT, Inc., to conduct a re-evaluation.

“We are extremely pleased with the accomplishments of the SGT Team,” stated Executive Vice President Kam Ghaffarian. “Throughout this process we remained confident that the Government would complete a thorough, objective review of their findings and make the determination that the SGT Team was the best team for the job. This re-award substantiates that the expertise and experience we bring to the MSES II/A Contract are the best value for the Government.”

Through MSES II/A, SGT will provide state-of-the-art engineering and related services for the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions. The multidisciplinary services include mechanical and thermal engineering, structural and dynamic analysis, mechanical design, electro-mechanical system development, contamination and coatings, manufacturing, materials engineering, and integration & test.

The MSES II/A Team consists of Prime Contractor SGT, Inc., along with teammates Ball Aerospace, of Boulder, CO; Northrop Grumman, of Lanham, MD; Edge Space Systems, of Glenelg, MD; and Sigma Space, of Lanham, MD. The contract is a small business set-aside, Cost-Plus-Award-Fee (CPAF), Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with an ordering period that extends five years from the effective date of the contract. The potential Contract Value is $400M.

SGT, Inc., is a privately held, SBA-certified, minority/veteran-owned Small Business, headquartered in Greenbelt, MD, USA. SGT, Inc., provides aerospace engineering, Earth and planetary science modeling and analysis, information systems and project management, operational support and technical services to NASA, NOAA, USGS, and various other government and commercial organizations.
