STATE OF WORK TO RECOVER THE FIRST-STAGE ENGINE
OF THE H-II LAUNCH VEHICLE NO.8


The National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) has carried out
work to recover the first-stage engine of the H-II Launch Vehicle No.8
from the sea about 380km northwest of the Ogasawara Islands (the sea
here is about 3000m in depth). The work was begun at 17:30 on Jan 22,
and the main body of the LE-7 engine was successfully pulled aboard
the salvage ship at 09:00 on Jan 23.
