SPACEHAB, Inc. , a leading
provider of commercial space services, today announced that the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) awarded a $10 million contract to
SPACEHAB subsidiary, Johnson Engineering, for Configuration Management support
to the International Space Station (ISS) program.

Johnson Engineering (JE), has led award-winning ISS Configuration
Management activities on behalf of NASA since August 1997.
Under this new
contract, which covers a performance period of almost three years, JE will
provide ISS data and change management, configuration status accounting and
auditing, and logistics associated with Space Station component acceptance and
flight readiness activities to NASA and other ISS International Partners.

“We are exceptionally pleased that we can continue to provide this
valuable service to NASA,” said Tom Short, Senior Vice President, Johnson
Engineering.
He added, “As the prime contractor on this initiative, we are
very committed to the space program and the successful completion of the
International Space Station.”
With subcontractor support from System Studies
& Simulation Inc. in Huntsville, Alabama, JE has already received orders to
begin work under the contract.

In fulfilling this new contract, JE will be building on the expertise that
it currently offers to NASA.
JE provides facility management and astronaut
training services under a contract with NASA’s Johnson Space Center Flight
Crew Systems Division.
Support on this contract began in 1993 and the
Division recently extended the performance period for an additional year.

Founded in 1984, with more than $100 million in annual revenue, SPACEHAB,
Inc. is a leading provider of commercial space services and the first to
develop, own, and operate habitat and research modules and cargo carriers for
NASA’s Space Shuttles.
It also supports astronaut training and configuration
management at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and builds space-flight
trainers and mockups.
SPACEHAB’s Astrotech subsidiary provides commercial
satellite processing services in support of a range of expendable launch
vehicles, including Lockheed Martin’s Atlas and Boeing’s Delta and Sea Launch
rockets.
SPACEHAB subsidiary, Space Media, Inc., brings space into homes and
classrooms worldwide with television and Internet broadcasting from the
International Space Station.
