CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (June 16, 2009) — “Space Talk,” a new one-hour radio program dedicated to the topic of America’s space program, will begin broadcasting June 20 from the studios of WMMBAM on Florida’s Space Coast.

The live, weekly program will be hosted by veteran aerospace writer and commentator Jim Banke, owner and president of MILA Solutions, LLC.

“Jim Banke has provided his expert launch commentary and knowledge of the space program to our listeners for more than 15 years. We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring his passion for spaceflight to our local audience and those on the Internet,” said Bill Mick, WMMB Program Director. All facets of the space program will be featured including NASA, military activities, commercial launches, space education, new space ventures such as space tourism, state space programs, space science, history, and space-related entertainment.

“This will not be just another boring show regurgitating NASA news releases. We are going to educate, inform, and share what’s on our mind. But mostly we will have fun and talk about the space program in a way that everyone can understand,” said Banke. Frank DiBello, interim president of Space Florida, the state’s official space agency, will be the inaugural guest on the June 20 program.

“Space Talk” will broadcast live each Saturday at 4 p.m. ET from WMMB’s Showcase Studio at the Florida Marketplace in Melbourne, Fla. WMMB can be heard in Brevard County on 1240 AM and 1350 AM.

Interactivity will be a key feature of the program, which will be streamed live on the Internet and recorded for download as a Podcast – both available at www.wmmbam.com. Audience members from around the nation will be invited to call in to the program at 321-768-1240, send e-mail to spacetalking@aol.com, or interact via Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/spacetalking.

About Jim Banke: Banke spent 16 years covering the space program for Florida Today newspaper and Space.com as an award-winning journalist. Banke was a member of Gov. Jeb Bush’s Commission on the Future of Space and Aeronautics in Florida and in 2007 was honored with NASA’s Distinguished Public Service Medal. He is currently president of MILA Solutions, LLC, a consulting firm that provides media services, project management and strategic communications for aerospace-related ventures.
