The industry-led board of
directors of the Florida Space Research Institute (FSRI) has selected
Jerry Moyer of Bionetics Corp. to serve as the organization’s new
chairman. As chairman, Mr. Moyer will work with FSRI’s executive
director and other board members to expand Florida’s academic involvement
in space-related research and education programs, focusing on university
and community college partnerships with industry and government agencies.

“I commend FSRI for its progress in encouraging collaboration
among our state’s universities” said Lt. Governor Frank Brogan, who
serves as Florida’s chief liaison to the space industry. “I look forward
to working with Mr. Moyer to bolster FSRI’s efforts.”

Moyer will serve a one-year term as the FSRI chairman,
replacing Kevin Brown of Command and Control Technologies.

The FSRI board includes seven industry members from companies
like Bionetics, Boeing, Coleman Research Corp., Command and Control
Technologies, Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney, and United Space Alliance.
Other members represent the Spaceport Florida Authority, Enterprise
Florida, the Florida Aviation Aerospace Alliance, the Florida Space
Business Roundtable, the Florida Institute of Technology, the State Board
of Community Colleges, and the Independent Colleges & Universities of
Florida. Dr. Sam Durrance serves as the FSRI executive director.

The Florida Space Research Institute was established by the
state’s Governor and Legislature in 1999 to coordinate space-related
programs among the state’s academic institutions, space-related
companies, and federal space agencies to support statewide space-related
education, training, research and technology development.
