Space Foundation Promotes Probert to Education Vice President, Director Appointments Also Announced
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 11, 2008) – The Space Foundation announced several promotions within the organization. Iain Probert was promoted to vice president, education. Mindy Carroll was named director, sales and corporate member services; Andrea Glassett was named director, human resources; and Kendra Horn was named director, media relations.
As the face of the Space Foundation’s education programs, Probert interacts with educators, students, companies, community leaders, and educational institutions in support of education events and activities. In this role, he directs all of the Space Foundation’s education efforts and is responsible for implementing all education programs including the growing Space Discovery Institute (formerly Summer Institute) courses for educators, esteemed Teacher Liaison program, Space Career Fair, and more. Probert also supervises the activities of the Space Foundation education and curriculum development team.
Probert joined the Space Foundation in 2006 as director, education strategic partnerships, and was named director, education enterprise in 2007. Before joining the Space Foundation, he held positions with the Boy Scouts of America and Learning for Life. Probert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic and computer engineering from Thames University and has studied at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France.
In her role as director of sales and corporate member services, Carroll is responsible for strategic partnership development, event sponsorships, and corporate membership sales, maintenance, and growth. Carroll joined the Foundation in 2001, serving in a variety of positions including speaker coordinator, marketing assistant, corporate member associate, director of events and plans, and interim director of marketing, until she departed in 2004. She re-joined the Space Foundation team in 2007 focusing on strategic partner relations. Carroll earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Florida State University.
Glassett, as director of human resources, is responsible for managing all Space Foundation human resources practices and responsibilities, including formulating, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures related to employment, compensation, and benefits for Space Foundation team members. Since joining the Foundation in 1998, Glassett has served in a variety of roles including assistant to the president and human resources administrator. In 2005, she assumed responsibility for human resources requirements within the Foundation. Glassett earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and is Professional Human Resources (PHR) certified.
As director of media relations, Horn will continue to lead the Space Foundation’s internal and external communications and direct all media operations for Space Foundation events. Horn joined the Foundation in 2005, serving as manager of government affairs in its Washington, D.C., office until 2007 when she took over as manager, communication and media relations. Horn earned a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law, a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Tulsa, and has studied at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France.
