NOTE TO EDITORS AND NEWS DIRECTORS: News media are invited to a Space Day 2000 tour of Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA on Thursday,
May 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. PDT. To reach Ames, take the Moffett Field exit from Highway 101, drive east to Moffett’s main gate and report to the Visitor
Badging Office for visitor passes, maps and tour schedules. U.S. media representatives must have a valid photo ID to enter Ames. Foreign media
representatives must have valid organizational ID and will be escorted.

On May 4, 25 NASA Science Fair winners will tour NASA Ames Research Center, as part of Ames’ Space Day activities. Media representatives are welcome to
join the group at any point during the two-hour tour window.

The 25 students, from elementary, middle and high schools around the Bay Area, are NASA winners of the Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology
Championship and the San Francisco Bay Area Science Fair.

“These students spent countless hours developing intriguing science projects,” said Tom Clausen, NASA Ames education specialist. “We hope they continue to
excel in science and math pursuits.”

Both the Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship and the San Francisco Bay Area Science Fair are affiliated with the International Science
and Engineering Fair, held this year in Detroit. Next year, the fair will be based in San Jos*, CA.

The students and their teachers will tour the world’s largest wind tunnel, Ames’ plant growth chambers, the 20-G centrifuge and historic Hangar 1. A map and tour
schedule will be available at the Visitor Badging office.
