NASA Glenn Research Center will conduct three tests of its outdoor mass notification systems testing in July.

The first test will take place at noon on July 2 and will last approximately 2-3 minutes. This test of the tornado siren tone will coincide with the testing done in several of Glenn’s surrounding communities.

On July 6 at noon Glenn will test its voice notification system.

Additionally, on July 9 all the outdoor siren patterns and sounds and the public address system will be tested between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this time, seven sirens will be turned on and off individually during the course of the day. The testing involves activating different types of tones which will have varying volume levels and lengths of time. A number of prerecorded emergency messages will also be tested and may be heard at or around NASA Glenn.

These warning signals and voice commands are used in emergencies and are important to the Glenn staff. However, Glenn recognizes that it is equally important to inform our neighbors that this testing will be occuring.
