Tech Leaders from GSA, NASA & NIST to address the groundbreaking effort to take more government applications and services to the cloud

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries, today invited media to attend its fifth annual forum on the adoption of cloud computing in the public sector. CloudGOV (formerly known as SaaSGov), will take place February 17 at the Westin Washington, D.C. City Center Hotel. The conference takes on special relevance this year – coming on the heels of the newly announced federal IT “cloud-first” reform policy.

CloudGOV will serve as a key resource for government executives, integrators, and independent software vendors involved in shifting applications and services to the cloud in compliance with the new federal IT reform plan. As the leading association actively focused on cloud development and implementation, SIIA has assembled a diverse group of government IT advisors to discuss the SaaS/Cloud applications and platforms that worked – or did not work – for them. These first-hand experiences will help other federal IT purchasers develop their own cloud computing strategies.
The following government IT executives will deliver keynote presentations outlining their agencies’ cloud computing efforts:

* Sanjeev “Sonny” Bhagowalia, Deputy Associate Administrator, Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies, GSA
* Chris C. Kemp , Chief Technology Officer for IT, NASA
* Dawn Leaf , Senior Executive for Cloud Computing, NIST

CloudGOV will also feature presentations from other prominent federal, state and local government IT leaders whose agencies have already joined the cloud revolution, as well as software vendors who provide cloud-based services for the public sector. Additionally, experts from the UK, Japan and Singapore will explore how their governments are handling the shift to cloud-based platforms.
For more information or to register for the conference, media should contact Beth Dozier at bethdozier@rational360.com . Members of the media may also register online at: http://www.siia.net/cloudgov/2011/press_apply.asp.
