Senator John Glenn Accepts Role as Honorary Chair of the Explorers Club

I’m overjoyed to report to all members that our famed explorer, United States Senator, and Fellow Member John Glenn, has accepted the role as Honorary Chair.

“I am greatly honored to be appointed Honorary Chairman,” said Glenn, a longtime Explorers Club Honorary Member (HON’62) and Honorary Director. “I thank President Alan Nichols, the Board of Directors and Honorary President Don Walsh for the opportunity to serve at this highest level.”

Senator Glenn is only the third Honorary Chair in the Club’s history, building on the extraordinary tradition originally set by Sir Edmund Hillary (the first to summit Mount Everest with Tenzing Norgay) and out-going Chairman James Fowler (famed zoologist and host of the Emmy Award-winning Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom).

Please join me in congratulating Senator John for his appointment as Honorary Chairman of The Explorers Club and thanking Jim Fowler, Honorary Director, for his past service to our Club.

Alan Nichols
