Seanodes, the creator and leading developer of Shared Internal Storage solutions, today announced that a high performance storage platform project designed and implemented by the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center (IPAC) and featuring the company’s Exanodes(TM) software platform was named a winner of the InfoWorld 100 awards honoring IT projects that “exemplify intelligent, creative uses of technology to meet business and technical objectives.”

Winning projects were selected from entries submitted by InfoWorld readers, technology partners and end-users and had to showcase innovative use of technology that served well-defined business goals. IPAC, a NASA facility based at the California Institute of Technology, selected Exanodes software to be part of an upgraded enterprise network architecture designed to process and store massive amounts of spectroscopy and imaging data generated by the Palomar Transient Factory (PTF), a four-year project established to perform nightly scans of the skies to capture any new, undiscovered objects.

“Every year, the InfoWorld 100 Awards celebrate 100 IT organizations that have implemented and integrated technologies in innovative ways in pursuit of concrete business goals,” said Jason Snyder, Senior Editor for InfoWorld. “Breathing new life into outdated operations, advancing business goals with inventive use of technology – this year’s winners demonstrate, once again, that innovative, business-minded IT is the lifeblood of successful organizations.”

“We are pleased to have received further validation of our groundbreaking Exanodes solution with this recognition of success by such a prestigious IT publication like InfoWorld and our inclusion on its annual InfoWorld 100 Awards list,” said Frank Gana, Business Development Director at Seanodes. “While Seanodes has received much attention this past year, having won several other prestigious industry awards, it is especially gratifying to be recognized for our work in a real-world implementation such as the IPAC install, proving that our success transcends winning praise for simply having a good idea to one where our customers are ultimately rewarded with an evolutionary technological solution.”

Exanodes standard edition allows HPC applications to marry unused disk space found in many computing and storage servers with existing or additional dedicated storage hardware to provide a powerful shared storage pool. Exanodes abstracts the storage layer from the physical devices enabling users to select the hardware and connectivity options that best suit their environment, today and tomorrow. As more and more HPC applications are limited by storage performance, user-friendly and non-intrusive Exanodes radically improves the global performance of computing infrastructures while delivering cost-correct capacity expansion capabilities eliminating the need for traditional external RAID storage and its associated costs.

Seanodes’ IPAC solution was one of only two winners in the Aerospace category. Profiles of winners of all 21 categories, along with InfoWorld’s editorial analysis and insight, are currently available at www.InfoWorld.com.
