Satellite Industry Association Announces New Officers for 2012 Executive Committee

Washington, D.C. January 20, 2012 – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) is pleased to announce the election of its 2012 Executive Committee. The SIA Board of Directors elected Ms. Jennifer Warren of Lockheed Martin Corporation to serve as Chairman for the coming year, joined by Mr. Kalpak Gude of Intelsat Corporation, as Vice Chairman, and Mr. Bill Weller of Space Systems/Loral, as Treasurer.

“SIA is privileged to have such experienced industry executives to lead its Board. The incoming Executive Committee mirrors both the diverse business sectors among our membership and the strong commitment of our members have made to SIA,” remarked Patricia Cooper, President of SIA, upon election of the new SIA Executive Committee. “With our 2012 Board Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Treasurer, SIA is poised to continue its role as the voice of the U.S. satellite industry in the year ahead.”

Ms. Warren is Vice President, Technology Policy and Regulation, at Lockheed Martin’s Washington Operations’ Government and Regulatory Affairs. In this position, Ms. Warren is responsible for managing the development and implementation of corporate domestic and international regulatory and associated policy strategies for a wide range of technology issues, including spectrum, satellites, cybersecurity, energy, environment, and emerging technologies. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin in 1996, Ms. Warren held senior regulatory and policy positions at the FCC International and Wireless Telecommunications Bureaus, and worked at the Commission of the European Union, in Brussels and in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Gude is Associate General Counsel at Intelsat Corporation, where his responsibilities include global regulatory, government affairs, market access, and spectrum management issues. Prior to joining Intelsat in 2006, Mr. Gude held the position of Associate General Counsel at PanAmSat after serving as Counsel to the Subcommittee on Communications to the U.S. Senate, Committee on Commerce,Science, and Transportation. Previously, Mr. Gude was an Attorney and Advisor at the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the Policy and Program Planning Division, Common Carrier Bureau.

Mr. Weller is Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Space Systems/Loral (SS/L), where he is responsible for SS/L’s marketing and sales of communications satellites and systems to international and U.S. satellite operators. He also leads space policy efforts with the U.S. Government for SS/L. Mr. Weller was named to this position in 2001 after serving as Director of Americas Marketing and Sales, and previously for the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to these positions he served as project manager for satellite ground-systems development and satellite operations programs and led new business development in these areas.
