Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) announced today the appointment of David Ray as senior vice president, Space Business Unit, reporting to Michael LaRouche, president of SAIC’s National Security and Space sector. In his new role, Ray will manage SAIC’s newly formed Space Business Unit, which combines the company’s civilian, defense and intelligence space operations under one organization.

Ray brings extensive space and leadership experience to SAIC and its $1.3 billion space business. He has worked with prominent space organizations such as the National Reconnaissance Office, NASA, and the U.S. Space Force. Most recently, Ray served as president, Government and Defense, at Flir Systems, where he led all aspects of the company’s government and defense business, including mergers and acquisitions. Prior to that, Ray held leadership positions with Raytheon Intelligence, Information, and Services; Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems; Raytheon Missile Systems; and Booz Allen Hamilton.

At SAIC, Ray will lead the team delivering some of the nation’s most advanced space services and will broaden those offerings across all customers. Well-known programs like GPS, space-track.org, NASA’s Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s climate modeling capabilities are supported by SAIC experts.

Ray brings a diverse background to accelerate the company’s ability to leverage its heritage to deliver the insights and expertise gained from one space customer to the emerging needs of another. SAIC is poised to deliver value in every stage of the space system lifecycle from concept to operation, across the entire space ecosystem.

“I’m thrilled to welcome David to the team. Space is a key part of SAIC’s portfolio. The government market continues to demand a more interconnected offering. As we expand, David’s extensive market experience is just what we need to deliver an integrated approach for our customers,” said LaRouche.

Ray holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the United States Air Force Academy and a Master of Science, Systems Management and Strategy from Central Michigan University.
