Rep. Boehlert to Give Keynote Address at Brookhaven National Lab Workshop; Tour NASA Space Radiation Laboratory

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, March 15, House Science Committee Chairman
Sherwood Boehlert (R – NY) will give the keynote address at a workshop for
the future National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS II) at Brookhaven
National Laboratory in Upton, New York. Following the address, he will
tour the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory at Brookhaven.

A synchrotron is a facility the size of a football field that produces
extremely bright, highly focused light. Like a giant microscope, this
brilliant light source allows matter to be “seen” at the atomic scale.
Synchrotron light is one of the most powerful tools available for
exploring matter. The National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) at
Brookhaven National Laboratory is a national user research facility funded
by the U.S. Department of Energy. Each year over 2500 scientists from
universities, industries and government labs perform research at the NSLS.

Starting at 8:30 a.m., the workshop will be webcast at
