Today, a little over six months since its launch, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s (JPL) Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport (InSight) lander successfully touched down on Mars beginning a two-year mission where it will study Mars’ deep interior.

Ranking Member Eddie Bernice Johnson’s (D-TX) released the following statement.

“I’d like to congratulate all of the scientists, engineers, and technicians who are a part of NASA’s InSight mission on today’s achievement. I look forward to learning what InSight will teach us not only about Mars’ interior, but the Earth, moon, and other rocky planets. It’s one more reason Congress needs to continue supporting the valuable work that is being conducted at NASA.”
