Dear subscribers,

full information about opportunities for observations with telescopes at

the ESO observatories in Period 69 (April 1, 2001 to March 31, 2002) is
now available on the web:

http://www.eso.org/observing/proposals/

Please note the firm deadline for proposals on October 2, 2001 at 12:00
hrs CEST.

As announced earlier, two Press Conferences will be held in Munich (on
September 11 and 12, 2001) on the occasion of the JENAM Conference. Look

at:

http://www.eso.org/outreach/pr-events/

In October 2000, an announcement was made about a dust disk around the
star “iota Horologii”. Subsequent observations with the same instrument
have failed to confirm the reality of this disk. It has since been
possible to trace the problem to the calibration of this difficult
observation. The details and a formal retraction of “PR Photo 27/00”,
together with the original text and images, are now available at:

http://www.eso.org/outreach/press-rel/pr-2000/phot-27-00.html

The observers and the ESO EPR Dept. regret the incorrect announcement
last year.

Kind regards,

The ESO EPR Dept.
