WASHINGTON, DC – The National Space Society supports the nomination of Shana Dale for Deputy Administrator of NASA.  The first woman to occupy this position, Dale will bring an exemplary set of skills and experience to the agency at a critical moment.

Dale has occupied leadership positions in both the Executive and Legislative branches, serving as Chief of Staff and General Counsel at the Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Staff Director of the House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics.

“Shana is a decisive leader who will bring key policy and political skills to the front office of NASA,” said George Whitesides, Executive Director of the National Space Society.  “With strong relationships within the commercial, science, academic and policy arenas, she will play a key role in the next stage of the Vision for Space Exploration.”

The society looks forward to working with Dale and NASA to engage the broadest possible set of constituents in space exploration and development.

Dale’s nomination follows the announcement of Colonel Fred D. Gregory’s resignation.  The society salutes Col. Gregory for his years of service to NASA and the nation.
