In response to the unprecedented damage and disruption caused by Hurricane Katrina on Aug. 29, Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC – News) will extend full pay to its Gulf Coast work force, both represented and unrepresented employees, for two weeks, including the Labor Day holiday and the pay periods ending Sept. 2 and Sept. 9, 2005.

The company requests that every employee from any of its impacted Gulf Coast facilities contact Northrop Grumman immediately via a new toll-free number which will go into operation at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6. This number, (877) 744-7NGC, or (877) 744-7642, has been established to help locate and assist all affected employees.

“Our top priority is to identify the location and condition of each and every one of our employees and their families,” said Ron Sugar, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Northrop Grumman. “We are focused on meeting their immediate needs, helping them get their lives back together and restoring their workplace as rapidly as possible. We’re taking the extraordinary step of extending their pay to minimize the financial impact on them during the time it takes to reopen our operations. There is no finer work force in the world than our Northrop Grumman Gulf Coast employees and we want to help them return to normal lives as fast as possible.”

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 6, the toll-free number serves to ensure that all employees are accounted for and that their needs are being addressed. A large number of operators have been assembled to accommodate the many thousands of calls expected. Employees who have contacted the company previously regarding disaster aid or information are also asked to call this number and provide the company with their current contact information.

“We’re asking anyone who knows an affected Northrop Grumman employee to make them aware of this effort to account for all our people,” Sugar said. “We appreciate the cooperation of so many media outlets and Internet sites that have been helping us reach our employees in the Gulf region. With phones and power out, radio and the Internet have been important sources of information for our people.”

Northrop Grumman will provide information regarding the timing and method of payment to affected employees as it becomes available.
