Northrop Grumman Employees Mark Evilsizer and Victoria Cabrera Miller Honored at Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference
Two Northrop Grumman Corporation (NOC) employees were honored at the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference (HENAAC) held Oct. 11-13 in Orlando, Fla. The employees were recognized for their exemplary achievements in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and for their extraordinary contributions to the community. Mark Evilsizer received the Community Service award and Victoria Cabrera Miller received the HENAAC Luminary award.
Evilsizer, an engineering planning analyst for Northrop Grumman’s Unmanned Combat Aeronautical System Demonstration program in Rancho Bernardo, Calif., was recognized by HENAAC for his outstanding service in support of his community and STEM education outreach to underrepresented communities. He serves on the governing board of the Palomar (Calif.) Community College District, leading the effort to improve facilities and build new education centers to serve primarily Latino students. He also serves as president of the California Association of Latino Community College Trustees and Administrators, a statewide association that advocates for improved educational access and outcomes for Latino students attending one of the state’s 112 community colleges.
Evilsizer also co-founded and serves on a grassroots nonprofit organization, Encuentros Leadership, geared to reduce the high school dropout rate and improve educational outcomes for Latino boys. In this effort, he recruits fellow Northrop Grumman engineers to share their personal stories with students and encourage them to pursue math and science careers while also enabling the engineers to give back to the community.
Miller won the prestigious HENAAC Luminary Award, reserved for individuals who are highly respected by their peers and management, who are valuable authorities in their field and who are acknowledged as trailblazers for future engineers and scientists.
Miller serves as section head for the system test engineering department at the System Test and Operations Center of Excellence for the company’s Aerospace sector, working on High Altitude Long-Endurance (HALE) programs such as Global Hawk. She is the deputy lab manager for the Global Hawk System Center and International Systems Integration Lab, working on various HALE-related programs and systems.
