Next Briefings Set for Expedition One Mission

Fresh off the successful mission of Space Shuttle Endeavour
to deliver the large solar arrays to the International Space
Station, status briefings will be held on Dec. 15 and Dec. 21 to
discuss the progress of the ongoing Expedition One mission.

With Commander Bill Shepherd, Pilot Yuri Gidzenko and Flight
Engineer Sergei Krikalev well into their second month aboard the
expanding complex, Lead Flight Director Jeff Hanley will provide
briefings on their activities and upcoming events on Friday, Dec.
15, at 4 p.m. EST and again on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 4 p.m. at
NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX.

The briefings will be broadcast on NASA Television with question-
and-answer capability available at all NASA centers.

The Expedition One crewmembers are in the midst of a four-month
vanguard mission as the first humans to occupy the international
complex. They will receive their second set of visitors next month
when Space Shuttle Atlantis is launched on the STS-98 mission to
deliver the American-made “Destiny” laboratory to the station.

Shepherd, Gidzenko and Krikalev are scheduled to return home in
late February on the STS-102 mission, which will bring their
replacements to the ISS for another four-month stay.

NASA Television is available on GE-2, Transponder 9C at 85 degrees
West longitude, vertical polarization, with a frequency of 3880
MHz, and audio of 6.8 MHz.
