CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Media are invited to cover shuttle Discovery’s move from its processing hangar to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), on Wednesday, July 13, at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Discovery’s first motion out of Orbiter Processing Facility-2 (OPF-2) is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. EDT.

STS-135 media mission badges are valid for this photo opportunity. Media planning to attend must arrive at Kennedy’s news center by 7:30 a.m. for transportation to the event. New accreditation for this event is closed.

Inside the VAB, Discovery will be stored for approximately one month while shuttle Atlantis undergoes processing in OPF-2 following its final mission, STS-135. Discovery flew its final mission, STS-133, in February and March 2011 and currently is being prepared for public display at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia.
