NASA’s 2001 Mars Odyssey Mission Briefing Set For March 19

The mission and scientific goals of NASA’s next mission
to Mars, the 2001 Mars Odyssey, will be the subject of a news
briefing Monday, March 19, at 1 p.m. EST. Odyssey is scheduled
for launch April 7 on a Delta II rocket from Cape Canaveral
Air Force Station, FL.

Participants will be:

* Dr. Edward Weiler, Associate Administrator, Office of Space
Science, Washington, DC

* Scott Hubbard, Mars Program Director, NASA Headquarters,
Washington, DC

* Dr. Jim Garvin, Mars Program Scientist, NASA Headquarters,
Washington, DC

* George Pace, 2001 Mars Odyssey Project Manager, Jet
Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Pasadena, CA

* Dr. Steve Saunders, 2001 Mars Odyssey Project Scientist,
JPL

The press briefing will originate from the James E. Webb
Auditorium at NASA Headquarters, 300 E St. SW, Washington, DC,
and will be carried live on NASA Television with two-way
question-and-answer capability for reporters covering the
event from participating NASA centers.

NASA TV is broadcast on GE-2, transponder 9C, C-Band, located
at 85 degrees West longitude. The frequency is 3880.0 MHz.
Polarization is vertical and audio is monaural at 6.8 MHz.
