NASA TV to provide coverage of Soyuz relocation flight

A Russian Soyuz spacecraft currently attached to the
International Space Station will be relocated from one
docking port to another on Friday, Oct. 19. NASA Television
will provide commentary and coverage beginning at 6:30 a.m.
EDT.

Expedition Three Commander Frank Culbertson, Pilot Vladimir
Dezhurov and Flight Engineer Mikhail Tyurin will board the
Soyuz, currently docked to the station¹s Zarya Control
Module, undock and maneuver the spacecraft to its new
location on the Pirs Docking Compartment. The entire
operation is expected to take about 30 minutes.

The relocation of the Soyuz sets the stage for the arrival of
a replacement Soyuz vehicle on Oct. 23. Victor Afanasyev will
command that Soyuz “taxi crew.” He will be joined on the
mission by Flight Engineers Konstantin Kozeev and Claudie
Haignere, European Space Agency Astronaut flying under a
commercial contract between CNES, the French Space Agency,
and the Russian Aviation and Space Agency. They will spend
eight days aboard the ISS conducting experiments and
preparing to ferry the old Soyuz back to Earth.

Television from the Soyuz is expected during the brief free
flight away from the orbiting outpost.

NASA Television is available on GE-2, Transponder 9C at 85
degrees West longitude, vertical polarization, with a
frequency of 3880 MHz, and audio of 6.8 MHz.
