CLEVELAND — NASA’S Glenn Research Center will hold a public meeting to solicit input for consideration in the preparation of a draft environmental impact statement, or EIS, for a proposed wind farm at Glenn’s Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio.

The meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 300 of the Sandusky High School, 2130 Hayes Avenue in Sandusky, Ohio.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. to offer the public an opportunity to learn about the project and the EIS process through posters and fact sheets and to speak informally with NASA officials and technical staff. During that time, they may also sign up to give oral comments at the meeting.

The proposed wind farm would be located on underutilized property at Plum Brook Station to meet federal renewable energy goals for the agency. An EIS is a comprehensive study to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of siting a wind farm.

During the meeting, a presentation on the Wind Farm Project EIS will be followed by a question and answer period. There will also be an opportunity for the public to provide formal comments that will be recorded by a court reporter.

Members of the public may also submit written comments throughout the scoping period which extends through October 23, 2010. Both oral and written comments received during the scoping period will be given equal consideration in defining the scope of the EIS.
