NASA-Stennis Story Opportunities – Feb. 15, 2001

Saturday Campers Head to Star Station OneTM: The next space mission at
StenniSphere’s Astro Camp Saturday will be “Star Station OneTM” Saturday,
Feb. 17. Children ages 9-12 will study the International Space Station. They
will design and build their own version of a space station. StenniSphere is
one of only 60 museums in the United States participating in this program
sponsored by the Boeing Co., the prime U.S. contractor building the
International Space Station. Future Astro Camp Saturday missions are
scheduled throughout the spring. On March 17, campers go on a Mission to
Mars; then on April 21, campers can build and launch their own rockets. On
May 19, there will be another opportunity to go aboard Star Station OneTM .

Educator Workshops Slated for March – Education reporters are invited to
attend and cover any of the upcoming spring series workshops scheduled in
March sponsored by the NASA Educator Resource Center. Workshops include:
Simple Science Experiments, March 5 for teachers grades K-5; Developmental
Appropriate Practices for Infants, March 15 for teachers grades Pre K-1;
This Land is
My Land, March 19 for teachers grades 2-5; and Introduction to Microsoft
PowerPoint, March 21 for teachers grades K-12.

Apollo Astronaut Fred Haise and Stennis Exhibits to be Featured at Saenger:
The
Biloxi Saenger Theatre is sponsoring a special screening of Apollo 13 at 7
p.m. on March 9. Apollo 13 astronaut and Biloxi native Fred Haise plans to
attend. Stennis Space Center will provide exhibits not only about the Apollo
program, but also on the current projects under development at NASA.
