NASA Marshall Center to Celebrate Earth Day — in Spades

NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., once more is preparing
to demonstrate its environmental awareness — in spades.

On Thursday, April 20, Marshall Center employees will gather to turn over soil
during the Center’s annual Earth Day tree-planting ceremony.

Speakers at the ceremony will include Charles C. Weber, Huntsville
Superintendent of Urban Forestry and Horticulture, and Marshall Center Director
Art Stephenson, who will turn the first spade of earth.

Media representatives are invited to cover the ceremony at 10 a.m. outside the
Microgravity Development Laboratory, Building 4493. To attend, contact Jerry

The theme of this year’s Earth Day celebration at Marshall is “Reuse It or Lose
It.” Winners of Marshall’s “Spot an Environmentalist” contest — employees and
contractors cited by colleagues for environmentally friendly habits — will be
honored at the tree-planting ceremony.

Earth Day will be observed nationally on Saturday, April 22.
