NASA KSC Center Director Will Be Featured Speaker at January Luncheon

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Jan. 5, 2006 – James W. Kennedy, director of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, will be the featured speaker at the National Space Club Florida Committee’s first event for 2006, our January luncheon.

The luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 10. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. EST and will be held at the DoubleTree Oceanfront on State Highway A1A in Cocoa Beach.

Kennedy will brief the space industry and community leaders on current activity at America’s launch and landing site for the Space Shuttle, and future activity expected as a result of the nation’s Vision for Space Exploration.

News media are invited to cover this event. The program is expected to begin about 12:30 p.m. and conclude by 1 p.m. Lunch tickets are available if you’d like to eat. The cost is $17 and may be paid at the door or online at http://www.nscfl.com.

The National Space Club Florida Committee is a non-profit corporation composed of representatives of industry, government, educational institutions and private individuals who share a commitment to increasing public awareness of America’s aerospace programs.

In addition to monthly luncheons, the Space Club manages an extensive awards program that seeks to recognize industry leaders from various disciplines each year. Money raised helps fund education programs, including the successful Space Week campaign in which every sixth-grade student in Brevard County spends a day at the Kennedy Space Visitor Complex.
