NASA Invites Public to Reflect on a Century of Flight
To commemorate the upcoming 100th anniversary of Orville
and Wilbur Wright’s first controlled, powered flight Dec. 17,
1903, the NASA Office of Aerospace Technology and the NASA
History Office will present a half-day reflection on the
meaning of a century of flight and a discussion of future
possibilities.
The event will take place Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, from 1 to 4
p.m. at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, 1530 P St.,
NW, in Washington. Noted experts in areas ranging from the
earliest days of flight to futuristic technologies envisioned
to advance aviation through this century and beyond will be
on hand to guide the discussion.
Media are invited to the commemorative event, which is free
and open to the public. Because space and accommodation for
