NASA Invites Media to Rocket Launch Competition at Launch Pad 39A

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Media are invited to attend the International Space University’s Space Studies Program student rocket launch competition from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, at Launch Pad 39A. Media must arrive at Kennedy’s Press Site by 8 a.m. for transportation to the event.

U.S. media without permanent credentials need to apply by close of business Thursday, July 12. International media need to apply by noon on Thursday, July 6. Badges must be picked up at the Kennedy Space Center Badging Office on State Road 405 by 3 p.m. on Friday, July 13. Media must apply for credentials online at: https://media.ksc.nasa.gov

The rocket launch competition is an annual activity conducted within the Space Systems Engineering Department of the Space Studies Program. The International Space University’s tradition of using a different host site for the program each year has provided a wide variety of launch pad locations from soccer stadiums to European cities, and, now the same site that launched the space shuttles to the International Space Station and the first man to the moon.

NASA Kennedy Space Center and the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Fla., are co-hosts for this year’s session.
