HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — NASA will showcase its “Home and City” exhibit, demonstrating how space exploration benefits daily American life, at the 2011 Southeastern Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

The exhibit will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 3-4, from 1-6 p.m. March 5 and from 2-5 p.m. March 6.

The NASA Home and City exhibit allows users to better understand how technology developed by NASA for space exploration has found wide applications in American homes and aspects of everyday life. Sports enthusiasts also will have the opportunity to step inside a Mark III Astronaut suit.

“In the past five decades, NASA research and development have resulted in more than 2,000 breakthrough tools and technologies,” said Marshall outreach coordinator Kirk Pierce.

NASA staffers will be on hand to answer questions and discuss how America’s space exploration activities continue to refine existing technologies and contribute new breakthroughs in areas such as power generation, computer technology, communications, networking and robotics.
