NASA Head Charles Bolden to Show LA’s BEST Students, Science is Launch Pad For Success

Charles Bolden will speak to LA’s BEST students at Gratts Elementary near downtown Los Angeles, tour the program, see a winning science project presented by visiting LA’s BEST students from Pacoima Elementary, and will participate in a paper rocket launching activity with students. Mr. Bolden will speak to the students about the importance and relevance of science in their lives and futures and will answer students’ questions.

The California Standards Test results in 2007 indicate that only 29% of LAUSD fifth-graders scored “proficient or above” in science. LA’s BEST is committed to ensuring that students have exposure to the sciences so that they approach the subject with curiosity and passion, and will be inspired to pursue science in academia or in their future careers.
