NASA Exercises Option to Extend Aircraft Maintenance Contract

NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston has
exercised an option to extend a level-of-effort, cost-plus-
award-fee contract with DynCorp Technical Services, Fort
Worth, Texas, to support the maintenance and modification of
JSC aircraft.

This action exercises Option 2 for the fourth year of the
Aircraft Maintenance and Modification Program, extending the
period of performance to Feb. 28, 2003.

Under the contract, DynCorp maintains all assigned equipment
on airframes, engines, appliances and support equipment. The
contractor performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance,
preventative maintenance, rebuilding and alterations of
aircraft, appliances, engines and support equipment.

The estimated cost of Option 2, including maximum award fee,
is $26 million. The estimated cost and maximum award fee of
the contract, including Option 2, is $110 million.

The work will be performed principally at JSC’s Ellington
Field and at NASA facilities located at El Paso, Texas;
Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; and Kennedy Space Center,
Fla.
