NASA, EPA Partner to Expand Alternative Fuel use in Government Vehicles

CLEVELAND — NASA’s Glenn Research Center will hold a kickoff event announcing their one-year alternative fuel pilot program partnership with the local Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, on Monday, Nov. 15, at 11:15 a.m. in Glenn’s building 104.

Glenn’s director of Center Operations Robyn Gordon and Logistics and Technical Information Division project lead Antoine Moss, with EPA acting section chief John Gierczak will share in welcoming remarks. Afterward, EPA personnel will receive fuel site training from Glenn employees followed by a safety overview.

Glenn is making their alternative fuel available to the local EPA, thereby contributing to the achievement of executive mandates for federal agencies to decrease their greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution by increasing use of alternative fuels in government-owned or leased motor vehicles.

Glenn has received national recognition for two consecutive years as one of the top 40 Government Fleets in North America. The Government Green Fleet Award is based on a comprehensive set of criteria specifically tailored around the challenges and requirements of the government fleet manager.
