NASA Contractor Employees Arrested

On September 26, 2000, Jesus Beltran, Juan Rodriguez and Emilio
Rodriguez, employees of ACS Environmental, Inc. (ACS), Chesapeake, VA,
a NASA contractor, were arrested for felony violations of Virginia
State Code 18.2 – 168, Uttering a Forged Public Record. NASA
contracted with ACS to provide asbestos abatement services at Langley
Research Center (LaRC), Hampton, VA. The individuals were arrested
after presenting NASA security officials with allegedly fraudulent
resident alien cards.


The suspects are scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Hampton,
Virginia, on November 21, 2000. Each offense charged carries a maximum
penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment.


Special Agents from the NASA Inspector General’s Office of Criminal
Investigations and Officers from the Hampton Police Department are
conducting the investigation with the assistance of the Immigration and
Naturalization Service and the NASA LaRC Security and Public Safety
Office. The prosecution is being handled by the Commonwealth’s
Attorney’s Office, Hampton, Virginia.
