NASA Awards Wackenhut Services, Inc. (WSI) Fire Protection and Emergency Response Services Contract Valued at $38.7 Million

Wackenhut Services Incorporated (WSI) is pleased to announce that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has selected WSI for award of the fire protection and emergency response services contract at the NASA Ames Research Center located at Moffett Field near Mountain View, California.

James L Long III, CEO and Vice-Chairman of WSI said, “We are honored to be selected by NASA for this important project and look forward to initiating operations. WSI has been providing fire protection and emergency response services to the federal government and the commercial sector for the last 40 years. WSI currently provides fire protection services at the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Titusville, Florida as a part of the Space Gateway Support L.L.C. (SGS), a joint venture company with Northrop Grumman; the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California and numerous Department of Defense and industrial facilities across the United States.

Wackenhut Services also proudly protects the U.S. military stationed in Iraq by maintaining fire and emergency response services at 21 U.S. military bases in Iraq.

Long stressed WSI’s commitment to the local communities saying, “We take great pride in being a vital and contributing partner in the communities where we provide fire, emergency and security services. This contract enables us to become a participant in the Santa Clara County Fire Rescue Mutual Aid Plan as well as provide training, fire prevention planning and public education to that community.”

In addition to the fire prevention and emergency services, NASA has relied on WSI for security services at Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Base as part of SGS; Jet Propulsion Lab; Johnson Space Center in partnership with the Diamond Group; White Sand Missile Range and Dryden Research Center.

The total value of WSI’s five-year contract is 38.7 million dollars and will employ a total of 51 personnel.
