NASA Awards Houston Aircraft Support Services Contract

NASA has awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin Services, Inc., Houston, to provide support to agency aircraft used in simulation training for flying the space shuttle.

The cost-plus-award-fee contract value is estimated at $17.7 million with a three year performance period. The work will be conducted at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston.

The work includes simulation support services on aircraft and related equipment. The aircraft requiring simulation support services are four Gulfstream II jets. They are modified to simulate shuttle flight and landing approaches for astronaut pilot training. The shuttle training aircraft simulation system includes onboard avionics, two ground-based validation modules and complementary equipment.
