NASA Astronaut Gregory H. Johnson to Appear at Duluth Air and Aviation Expo

CLEVELAND – NASA astronaut and retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Gregory H. Johnson will make an appearance at the Duluth Air and Aviation Expo in Duluth, Minn., on Saturday, Sept. 22. Johnson will speak with guests and sign autographs in the NASA exhibit area from 11 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m.

The NASA exhibit area, available throughout the weekend, Sept. 22-23, will feature the popular “Picture Yourself in Space” photo booth, where visitors can receive a free souvenir photo taken as an astronaut; a solar system scale, where a person can find out how much they would weigh on another planet; interactive kiosks like Lessons of a Widowmaker, where visitors can learn about NASA’s test aircraft and Improving Today’s Flight, where visitors can explore NASA’s pioneering research that was done closer to planet Earth and improved today’s flight; and information booths, where visitors can obtain free NASA informational material.

On Friday, Sept. 21, Johnson will speak about his experiences in space with Duluth high school students as part of NASA’s initiative to connect students to science, technology, engineering and math. He will speak at Denfeld High School from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. and East High School from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
