NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden to Keynote NVTC’s Annual TechCelebration Banquet on Nov. 14
GMU President Alan Merten to receive Earle C. Williams Lifetime Achievement Award; Sen. Mark Warner to present Chairman’s Award to NVTC’s Arlington National Cemetery Task Force; and NVTC/Washington Technology Government Contractor CTO Innovator Awards winners to be announced
The Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), the largest technology council in the nation, today announced that NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden Jr. will deliver the keynote at this year’s TechCelebration banquet on Nov. 14 at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. Bolden will discuss the space agency’s future, including investments in next-generation space technologies like a space-based optical communications system, a deep space atomic clock and a space solar sail.
As a special tribute, NVTC will honor George Mason University President Dr. Alan G. Merten with the Earle C. Williams Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented to a person whose lifetime personal and professional endeavors have made a significant impact on the Northern Virginia technology community. Dr. Merten will retire from the GMU presidency in June 2012.
NVTC and Sen. Mark Warner will also honor the core team leaders of NVTC’s Arlington National Cemetery Task Force with the 2011 Chairman’s Award, and NVTC will honor the finalists and announce the winners of the 2011 NVTC/Washington Technology Government Contractor CTO Innovator Awards, recognizing chief technology officers within the region’s government contracting community for their critical contributions to achieving results for their customers and their leadership within their own companies.
